There’s No Hope For You If You Miss the Rapture

Prologue

This message is written as a sober warning and a final call to readiness. Many speak about the rapture as an escape to heaven that happens before the Great Tribulation begins, but Scripture repeatedly ties the gathering of Godโ€™s people in the rapture to the visible return of Jesus Christ. Because of that, what follows is not speculation, but an urgent appeal to take the Word of God seriously, to repent, and to be prepared to meet the Lord.

Foreword

This message is an addendum to my earlier post, โ€œThere Is No Pre-Tribulation Rapture.โ€ The Lord wants people to understand that Jesus will come to gather His people after the Great Tribulation has begun. And once the rapture takes place, those who remain will not have another three and a half years to โ€œget rightโ€ with Him. The rapture is not the beginning of a long delayโ€”it is tied to the return of Jesus, and what immediately follows is the Day of the Lord.

Jesus gathers His people when He returns (the same day)

Jesus teaches that His coming and the gathering (rapture) happen after the tribulation begins:

โ€œImmediately after the tribulation of those daysโ€ฆ they shall see the Son of man comingโ€ฆ And he shall send his angelsโ€ฆ and they shall gather together his electโ€ฆโ€ (Matthew 24:29โ€“31, KJV)

Paul describes the same event:

โ€œFor the Lord himself shall descend from heavenโ€ฆ and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are aliveโ€ฆ shall be caught upโ€ฆ to meet the Lord in the air.โ€ (1 Thessalonians 4:16โ€“17, KJV)

And he places that gathering on the day Jesus is revealed:

โ€œAnd to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, In flaming fire taking vengeanceโ€ฆโ€ (2 Thessalonians 1:7โ€“8, KJV)

What pre-tribulationists believe about the rapture

Pre-tribulationists teach that Jesus takes the Church before the tribulation begins, and that afterward the world enters a tribulation period in which people can still turn to God before Jesus later returns in judgment. Many also believe God will raise up witnesses during that time (often pointing to the โ€œtwo witnessesโ€):

โ€œAnd I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesyโ€ฆโ€ (Revelation 11:3, KJV)

The Day of the Lord: wrath when Jesus returns

Scripture repeatedly connects the โ€œday of the Lordโ€ with sudden destruction and fiery judgment:

โ€œFor yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the nightโ€ฆ sudden destruction cometh upon themโ€ฆโ€ (1 Thessalonians 5:2โ€“3, KJV)

โ€œThe day of the Lord will comeโ€ฆ in the which the heavens shall pass awayโ€ฆ and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth alsoโ€ฆ shall be burned up.โ€ (2 Peter 3:10, KJV)

Jesus also describes His return as a day of judgment like Noah and Lot:

โ€œAs it was in the days of Noeโ€ฆ the flood came, and destroyed them allโ€ฆ Likewise also as it was in the days of Lotโ€ฆ it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.โ€ (Luke 17:26โ€“30, KJV)

And Genesis records that pattern:

โ€œThen the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fireโ€ฆโ€ (Genesis 19:24, KJV)

Matthew 24:29โ€“31 explained (rapture after tribulation begins)

Matthew 24:29โ€“31 gives the order plainly:

  1. After the tribulation (v.29)
  2. Jesus appears in glory (v.30)
  3. Angels gather the elect (v.31)

So, the gathering of the elect is tied directly to the visible return of Christ, not to a separate earlier coming.

What happens after the rapture (as Scripture describes)

After the gathering, Scripture describes judgment on the ungodly at Christโ€™s revelation:

โ€œThe Lord Jesus shall be revealedโ€ฆ In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not Godโ€ฆโ€ (2 Thessalonians 1:7โ€“8, KJV)

โ€œAnd then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming.โ€ (2 Thessalonians 2:8, KJV)

Conclusion

According to what has been shown, the rapture does not remove people from the earth so they can later โ€œget right with Godโ€ during a remaining window of time. The gathering of the elect happens when Jesus is revealed, and that same day becomes the Day of the Lordโ€”the day of wrath and final judgment. There is no extended period afterward for those left behind to regroup, reorganize, and prepare for a later return, because the return and the gathering are joined together.

Therefore, what follows the rapture for those who remain is not a new season of opportunity, but sudden destruction. Just as it was in the days of Noah and in the days of Lot, judgment comes immediately upon the ungodly. Fire falls, the earth is consumed, and the Lord executes vengeance at His appearing. The world that rejected the truth is brought to its end, and the Lord begins the regenerationโ€”bringing in His righteous rule and the renewal He has appointed.

Epilogue

I have written these things as a warning and as a call to repentance. The purpose is not to stir fear, but to point hearts back to Jesus Christ while there is still time. Scripture says, โ€œPrepare to meet thy Godโ€ (Amos 4:12, KJV), and again, โ€œNow is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvationโ€ (2 Corinthians 6:2, KJV).

If you have read this and you know you are not ready, do not delay. โ€œSeek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is nearโ€ (Isaiah 55:6, KJV). Jesus is faithful to forgive and to cleanse those who truly turn to Him: โ€œIf we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousnessโ€ (1 John 1:9, KJV).

For those who belong to Christ, this is also a call to watchfulness and endurance. Jesus said, โ€œWatch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth comeโ€ (Matthew 24:42, KJV), and โ€œhe that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be savedโ€ (Matthew 24:13, KJV). Let every believer stay sober, stay prayerful, and stay close to the Holy Spirit.

I leave you with the final invitation of Scripture: โ€œAnd the Spirit and the bride say, Comeโ€ฆ and whosoever will, let him take the water of life freelyโ€ (Revelation 22:17, KJV). May the Lord use this message to awaken the sleeping, strengthen the faithful, and draw many to repentance before the Day of the Lord.

In closing,

As in the Days of Noah and Lot: Sudden Judgment When Jesus Is Revealed

I want to highlight what I believe God is showing me about the day Jesus returns: that He will bring fiery judgment on the wicked, as in the days of Sodom. Scripture says, โ€œThen the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heavenโ€ (Genesis 19:24, KJV). Jesus also said, โ€œIt rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealedโ€ (Luke 17:29โ€“30, KJV). Therefore, when Jesus returns, His appearing will be accompanied by fire and brimstone from heaven against the wicked.

Itโ€™s clear in Luke 17:26โ€“30 that Jesus compares His return to two moments of sudden judgment. In Noahโ€™s day, the wicked continued in ordinary life, unprepared because of unbelief, until Godโ€™s judgment came and โ€œdestroyed them all.โ€ In Lotโ€™s day, the same pattern repeated: the wicked were unprepared, and destruction fell suddenlyโ€”this time by fire from heaven.

In the same way, when Jesus returns, it will be โ€œbusiness as usualโ€ for the wicked right up until the moment He is revealed and judgment comes. The Scriptures show a pattern: the world was judged first by water in the flood, and it will be judged by fire in the day of the Lordโ€”water first, fire last.

Luke 17:26-30 Modern English Version

26 โ€œJust as it was in the days of Noah, so will it be in the days of the Son of Man.

27 They were eating, drinking, marrying, and were given in marriage until the day when Noah entered the ark. Then the flood came and destroyed them all.

28 โ€œLikewise as it was in the days of Lot: They ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built.

29 But on the day that Lot departed from Sodom, fire and brimstone rained from heaven and destroyed them all.

30 โ€œSo will it be on the day when the Son of Man is revealed.

Luke 17 and 2 Peter 3: Fire (Not Flood) in the Day Jesus Is Revealed

Luke 17:28โ€“30 is not describing literal lava or molten rock falling from the sky. Jesus is using Sodom as a pattern to teach that His return brings sudden, fiery judgment, just as Noahโ€™s day brought sudden, watery judgment. The emphasis is the suddenness, the unpreparedness, and the nature of the judgmentโ€”water in Noahโ€™s day, fire in the final Day of the Lord.

Letโ€™s walk through it clearly and slowly, because this passage is tightly connected to 2 Peter 3:7.

โญ What Luke 17:26โ€“30 is actually doing

Jesus gives two historical examples:

1. Noahโ€™s day โ€” destruction by water

People were:

  • eating
  • drinking
  • marrying
  • living normally

Then sudden destruction came by flood.

2. Lotโ€™s day โ€” destruction by fire

People were:

  • eating
  • drinking
  • buying
  • selling
  • planting
  • building

Then sudden destruction came by fire and brimstone.

Why does Jesus use both?

Because He is teaching two truths at the same time:

  1. The pattern of human unpreparedness   People will be living normally, ignoring God, just like in Noah and Lotโ€™s days.
  2. The pattern of sudden judgment   Judgment arrives instantly, without warning.

But He also uses these two examples to show the nature of the final judgment:

  • Noahโ€™s example = water
  • Lotโ€™s example = fire

And Jesus says His return will be like Lotโ€™s day, not Noahโ€™s.

โญ Verse 30 is the key

โ€œEven thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.โ€   (Luke 17:30)

Jesus is saying:

โ€œThe Day I am revealed will resemble the judgment on Sodom.โ€

That judgment was:

  • sudden
  • fiery
  • from heaven
  • destructive

So, the point is not lava, but fire from God, just like Genesis 19 describes.

โญ How 2 Peter 3:7 fits perfectly

Notice something important:

โ€œThe heavens and the earthโ€ฆ are reserved unto fire against the day of judgment.โ€   (2 Peter 3:7)

Peter explicitly says:

  • The final judgment will NOT be water (like Noahโ€™s day)
  • It WILL be fire (like Lotโ€™s day)

This is exactly the pattern Jesus used in Luke 17.

So Luke 17 and 2 Peter 3 agree:

โœ” Noahโ€™s day = water

โœ” Lotโ€™s day = fire

โœ” Jesusโ€™ return = fire

โญ So what does โ€œfire and brimstone from heavenโ€ mean?

It does not mean literal volcanic lava.

In Scripture, โ€œfire and brimstoneโ€ is:

  • supernatural fire
  • judgment fire
  • heavenโ€‘sent fire
  • Godโ€™s fire, not geological lava

Examples:

  • Genesis 19:24 โ€” โ€œThe LORD rained fire and brimstone from heaven.โ€
  • Psalm 11:6 โ€” โ€œUpon the wicked He shall rain snares, fire and brimstone.โ€
  • Revelation 14:10 โ€” fire and brimstone associated with divine wrath
  • Revelation 20:10 โ€” lake of fire and brimstone

This is Godโ€™s fire, not volcanic activity.

โญ So what is Luke 17:28โ€“30 saying?

Not:

  • literal lava
  • a geological eruption
  • a meteor shower
  • a physical volcano event

Yes:

  • Jesusโ€™ return brings sudden fiery judgment
  • just like Sodom
  • not like Noahโ€™s flood
  • people will be unprepared
  • destruction will be immediate
  • fire will come โ€œfrom heavenโ€ (meaning from God)

โญ Putting it all together

Luke 17:26โ€“30 teaches:

  1. People will be living normally and unprepared.
  2. Judgment will come suddenly.
  3. The nature of the judgment will be fire, not water.
  4. Jesusโ€™ return will resemble Lotโ€™s day, not Noahโ€™s.
  5. 2 Peter 3:7 confirms this: the final Day of the Lord is fire, not flood.

So, this message is correct:

โœ” The topic is sudden destruction

โœ” The final destruction is fire, not water

โœ” Jesus uses Noah to show unpreparedness

โœ” Jesus uses Lot to show the type of judgment

โœ” 2 Peter 3:7 confirms the final judgment is fire

Going to Heaven: Because of Jesus, Not Your Effort

Foreword

This section is written to lift your eyes back to the foundation of your hope. In a time when many believers measure their standing with God by feelings, performance, suffering, or spiritual effort, the Lord is reminding us of something simple and unshakable: heaven is not earnedโ€”it is received. This word is meant to quiet striving, expose selfโ€‘reliance, and bring you back to the cross, where salvation was finished.

If you have been trying to โ€œdo enoughโ€ to be accepted, this message is for you. And if you have truly received Jesus, it is also for youโ€”so you can stand in assurance, not in fear. โ€œHe that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.โ€ (Revelation 2:7, KJV)

Tonight Jesus said to me, โ€œYouโ€™re going to heaven because you accepted Me.โ€

Jesus does not bring you to heaven because you suffered enough, worked hard enough, or managed to please God by your own strength. You go to heaven for one reason: you received Him. Salvation rests on what Jesus accomplished on the cross, not on your efforts.

โ€œFor by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of worksโ€ฆโ€ (Ephesians 2:8โ€“9, KJV)

โ€œBut God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.โ€ (Romans 5:8, KJV)

To those who are only โ€œgoing through the motionsโ€ in the fleshโ€”trying to obey God without truly resting in Christโ€”this may feel distant or even hard to believe. But this word is for those who will hear what the Spirit is saying to the churches:

โ€œHe that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.โ€ (Revelation 2:7, KJV)

Hearing โ€œAnother Voiceโ€ in the World System

Foreword

This section is written to help you discern what many have stopped noticing: there is a voice shaping this age, and it is not the voice of God. Scripture warns that โ€œthe whole world lieth in wickednessโ€ (1 John 5:19, KJV) and that โ€œthe god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe notโ€ (2 Corinthians 4:4, KJV). When that blindness is present, people can be surrounded by darkness and still call it normal.

What follows is not meant to entertain curiosity, but to awaken spiritual discernment. The Holy Spirit is the One who opens ears to hear and eyes to see, because โ€œthe natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of Godโ€ (1 Corinthians 2:14, KJV). If you will draw near to the Lord, He will draw near to you (James 4:8, KJV), and you will begin to recognize the difference between the worldโ€™s voice and the Shepherdโ€™s voiceโ€”because Jesus said, โ€œMy sheep hear my voiceโ€ (John 10:27, KJV).

The Worldโ€™s Conditioning and the โ€œForeign Voiceโ€ Behind It

I hear many of todayโ€™s leaders and influencers speaking with what sounds like a foreign voiceโ€”so foreign that I can only describe it as โ€œalien.โ€ Yet most people donโ€™t recognize it, because theyโ€™ve been conditioned by the worldโ€™s system to accept it as normal. Scripture says, โ€œthe whole world lieth in wickednessโ€ (1 John 5:19, KJV), and that โ€œthe god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe notโ€ (2 Corinthians 4:4, KJV). When minds are blinded, people can listen to darkness and still call it light.

That conditioning comes through what surrounds us every dayโ€”schools, media, entertainment, and social platformsโ€”shaping what people love, excuse, and defend. The Bible warns, โ€œBe not conformed to this worldโ€ (Romans 12:2, KJV), because the world trains the heart to think in self-interest instead of Godโ€™s fear. And when self becomes the center, people stop discerning spiritual speech: โ€œthe natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of Godโ€ฆ neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discernedโ€ (1 Corinthians 2:14, KJV).

The only way to truly hear what is behind it is through the Holy Spirit. Jesus said, โ€œMy sheep hear my voiceโ€ (John 10:27, KJV). As you draw closer to God, you begin to recognize that life is about Himโ€”not about self, pleasure, or personal advantage. โ€œDraw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to youโ€ (James 4:8, KJV). And the closer you get, the clearer the contrast becomes between heavenโ€™s values and the worldโ€™s values.

For example, the world will excuse sexual pressure, manipulation, and compromise as โ€œnormal,โ€ even when it violates a believerโ€™s conscience and covenant with God. But Scripture says plainly, โ€œThis is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornicationโ€ (1 Thessalonians 4:3, KJV), and โ€œMarriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judgeโ€ (Hebrews 13:4, KJV). The world may applaud a man for boasting that he will push a woman to break her chastity before marriage, but God calls that darkness. โ€œWoe unto them that call evil good, and good evilโ€ (Isaiah 5:20, KJV).

This is how the world system works: what is sinful becomes โ€œaccepted,โ€ and what is holy becomes โ€œstrange.โ€ Jesus said, โ€œIf ye were of the world, the world would love his ownโ€ฆ but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth youโ€ (John 15:19, KJV). People who are caught in the conditioning canโ€™t recognize the devilโ€™s voice, even when it is speaking through pride, lust, and self-exaltationโ€”because theyโ€™ve been taught to dismiss the reality of spiritual evil. Yet Scripture says, โ€œyour adversary the devilโ€ฆ walketh about, seeking whom he may devourโ€ (1 Peter 5:8, KJV), and that Satanโ€™s strategy is deception: โ€œfor Satan himself is transformed into an angel of lightโ€ (2 Corinthians 11:14, KJV).

When I watch commercials, movies, and the constant messaging of this age, I hear one theme repeated: self firstโ€”self pleasure, self fulfillment, self prosperity. But the Bible describes that spirit: โ€œmen shall be lovers of their own selvesโ€ (2 Timothy 3:2, KJV). And it warns that the worldโ€™s system is built on lust and pride: โ€œthe lust of the fleshโ€ฆ the lust of the eyesโ€ฆ and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the worldโ€ (1 John 2:16, KJV). That is why I say it feels like a civilization built by a God-haterโ€”because it trains people to live as though God is optional.

I used to be part of that worldโ€”even after I was born again. But as the Lord drew me closer to Himself, the โ€œsoundโ€ of heaven became clearer, and the backwardness of this world became more obvious. Scripture says, โ€œThe friendship of the world is enmity with Godโ€ (James 4:4, KJV). Heaven exalts God first; the world exalts self first. Heaven calls for holiness; the world calls holiness โ€œextreme.โ€ Heaven calls sin bondage; the world calls bondage โ€œfreedom.โ€

My point to you is this: if you are still inside the worldโ€™s conditioning, you will struggle to discern the devilโ€™s voiceโ€”because it will sound like normal life. But God has given a way to see and hear clearly: through faith in Jesus Christ and the work of the Holy Spirit. Jesus said, โ€œExcept a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of Godโ€ (John 3:3, KJV). And Scripture says, โ€œas many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of Godโ€ (Romans 8:14, KJV). When God draws you near, you will begin to hear the contrastโ€”heavenโ€™s voice against the worldโ€™s voiceโ€”and you will recognize what this age has been calling โ€œnormalโ€ is often spiritual darkness.

Summary

Jesus taught that His return will be like the days of Noah and Lot: people living normally, unprepared through unbelief, until sudden judgment falls (Luke 17:26โ€“30). Noah shows the pattern of unpreparedness and sudden destruction by water; Lot shows the pattern of unpreparedness and sudden destruction by fire (Genesis 19:24). Peter confirms the final judgment is reserved for fire, not another flood (2 Peter 3:7). And for those who have received Christ, salvation is not earned by effortโ€”it rests on grace through faith in what Jesus did on the cross (Ephesians 2:8โ€“9; Romans 5:8).

Clarification

Luke 17:28โ€“30 is not a technical description of geology. โ€œFire and brimstone from heavenโ€ is biblical language for God-sent judgment, as in Sodom (Genesis 19:24), and it is echoed elsewhere as divine wrath (Psalm 11:6). The emphasis in Luke 17 is the suddenness, the unpreparedness, and the certainty of judgment โ€œin the day when the Son of man is revealedโ€ (Luke 17:30), which aligns with the earth being โ€œreserved unto fireโ€ (2 Peter 3:7).

Conclusion

The warning is plain: the world will be carrying on as usualโ€”eating, drinking, buying, selling, buildingโ€”right up to the moment Jesus is revealed (Luke 17:26โ€“30). That day will not be a slow transition, but a sudden dividing line: deliverance for those who belong to Christ, and fiery judgment for those who refused Him (Luke 17:30; 2 Thessalonians 1:7โ€“8). Therefore, the call is not to speculate, but to repent, believe, and stay readyโ€”because the Day of the Lord comes when many least expect it (1 Thessalonians 5:2โ€“3).

Epilogue

If you have received Jesus, your hope is secure because of Himโ€”not because you performed well enough, but because grace saves through faith (Ephesians 2:8โ€“9). If you have been dulled by the worldโ€™s voice, ask God to draw you near again, because His sheep hear His voice (John 10:27), and โ€œDraw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to youโ€ (James 4:8). Let this message be a final urging to put God first, to come out of the worldโ€™s conditioning, and to live watchful and soberโ€”ready for the day the Son of Man is revealed (Romans 12:2; 1 Peter 5:8; Luke 17:30).
