Revelation 3:20 Pegram Prophetic Paraphrase Version
Jesus Is KnockingโOpen the Door and Eat with Him
20 Listen! I stand at the door and knock {says Jesus}. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in and dine with him, and he with Me.
โWhen the Lord Knocks, Be Ready to Eat with Himโ
Luke 12:35-40 Living Bible
35 โBe preparedโall dressed and readyโ
36 for your Lordโs return from the wedding feast. Then you will be ready to open the door and let him in the moment he arrives and knocks.
37 There will be great joy for those who are ready and waiting for his return. He himself will seat them and put on a waiterโs uniform and serve them as they sit and eat!
38 He may come at nine oโclock at nightโor even at midnight. But whenever he comes, there will be joy for his servants who are ready!
39 โEveryone would be ready for him if they knew the exact hour of his returnโjust as they would be ready for a thief if they knew when he was coming.
40 So be ready all the time. For I, the Messiah, will come when least expected.โ
Parable of the Great Banquet
Luke 14:12-24 Living Bible {Paraphrased}
12 Then {Jesus} turned to his host. โWhen you put on a dinner,โ he said, โdonโt invite friends, brothers, relatives, and rich neighbors! For they will return the invitation.
13 Instead, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, and the blind.
14 Then at the resurrection of the godly, God will reward you for inviting those who canโt repay you.โ
15 Hearing this, a man sitting at the table with Jesus exclaimed, โWhat a privilege it would be to get into the Kingdom of God!โ
16 Jesus replied with this illustration: โA man prepared a great feast and sent out many invitations. 17 When all was ready, he sent his servant around to notify the guests that it was time for them to arrive.
18 But they all began making excuses. One said he had just bought a field and wanted to inspect it, and asked to be excused.
19 Another said he had just bought five pair of oxen and wanted to try them out.
20 Another had just been married and for that reason couldnโt come.
21 โThe servant returned and reported to his master what they had said. His master was angry and told him to go quickly into the streets and alleys of the city and to invite the beggars, crippled, lame, and blind.
22 But even then, there was still room.
23 โโWell, then,โ said his master, โgo out into the country lanes and out behind the hedges and urge anyone you find to come, so that the house will be full.
24 For none of those I invited first will get even the smallest taste of what I had prepared for them.โโ
Today Iโm praying for the hungry.
Earlier, an angel spoke to me and said that God is eating with meโwithin me. I began to thank the Lord because I understood what was being shown to me.
What does it mean for the Lord to eat with His peopleโto eat within us?
Those who have been baptized in the Holy Spirit, like me, have God living inside themโpresent with us, seeing, hearing, and helping in everything. For the Lord to โeat with you from withinโ means His Spirit is in your body and shares in your life. When you eat, He tastes the food with you. He swallows with you. He digests with you. He feels what you feel, because He is within you.
Not long ago, the angel also shared a sobering warning about judgment: that some people used what God created for His purposes to partner instead with darkness. The angel said that on judgement day, that the Lord and the angels will tear peoples guts out yelling at them, that the Lord made these guts to eat with Him, but they used them to eat with devils.
It reminded me that even something as simple as eating is not small in Godโs eyesโitโs a gift, and it should lead us to gratitude and repentance.
Then the angel prompted me to pray the familiar prayer:
โGod is good, God is great, thank You for the food we eat.โ
After that, I was urged to pray for those who donโt have food the way I do. So, I prayed from my heart:
โLord, please feed those who do not have food to eat like I do. Provide for them, comfort them, and make a way where there seems to be no way. In Jesusโ Name, amen.โ
