โš”๏ธ The Narrow Way: Matthew 7:13โ€“23 and the Deception of โ€œEasyโ€ Endโ€‘Times Teaching

Foreword

Before you read this, hear me clearly: this is not written to entertain curiosity or to win an argument. It is written as a warning and a call back to the fear of the Lord. In these last days, many voices promise an โ€œeasyโ€ escape, many teachers speak confidently where Scripture is not clear, and many people follow the crowd without testing what they hear.

Jesus told us ahead of time that the broad road is crowded, and the narrow way is found by few (Matthew 7:13โ€“14). He also warned us to beware of false prophets, and to judge teaching by its fruit (Matthew 7:15โ€“20). So, I am asking you to read this message the way a disciple should: with an open Bible, a sober heart, and a willingness to obey whatever the Lord shows you.

My aim is simple: to lift up Jesus Christ crucified, to call the Church to repentance and endurance, and to correct endโ€‘times teaching that comforts the flesh but does not prepare the soul.

Do Not Follow the Crowd: Jesusโ€™ Narrow Way Warning (Matthew 7:13โ€“23) and the Rapture Timing Debate

In my message I wrote at midnight this morning (it is now 9:00 PM), I left out some words the Lord gave me. Today, the Holy Spirit is pressing me to write them to youโ€”and to set the theme by Jesusโ€™ warning in Matthew 7:13โ€“23.

Jesus said, โ€œEnter by the narrow gate.โ€ The broad way is crowded, and it leads to destruction. The narrow way is hard, and few find it. (Matthew 7:13โ€“14)

That is why we must be careful when we see โ€œmanyโ€ believing something. A majority does not prove truth. A crowd does not prove salvation. Jesus Himself said the road that leads to life is found by few.

1) Why there are more preโ€‘trib believers than postโ€‘trib believers

One reason there appear to be more preโ€‘tribulation believers than those who expect to endure is this: most people are not truly saved, and many do not make time to study the Bible for themselves. They repeat what they have heard instead of searching the Scriptures with fear of the Lord.

Jesus warned that many are on the broad road. Many will be deceived. Many will be lost. (Matthew 7:13)

And Jesus also warned about false prophets: โ€œBeware of false prophetsโ€ฆ you will know them by their fruits.โ€ (Matthew 7:15โ€“20)

So, it should not surprise us that there are many voices teaching confidently about timing, while neglecting the weightier matterโ€”the gospel of Jesus Christ: His death, His blood, repentance, holiness, and obedience.

The Holy Spirit comes when we preach Christ crucified and call people to repentanceโ€”not when we argue endlessly about timelines. And the Holy Spirit corrects believers who become consumed with timing while ignoring the cross.

2) Why there is no single, universally accepted teaching on the timing

Another reason there are multiple rapture teachings (pre, mid, post) is because God has not given human beings the power to know the timing of Christโ€™s return.

Jesus said plainly:

โ€œ It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority. But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Meโ€ฆโ€ (Acts 1:7โ€“8)

The witness of the Church is not โ€œthe day and hour.โ€ Jesus said no one knows that. (Matthew 24:36)

The witness of the Church is Jesusโ€”His death and resurrectionโ€”and the call to follow Him on the narrow way.

3) Revelation 3:10 in the light of Matthew 7:13โ€“23

When I read Revelation 3:10, the Holy Spirit does not tell me that the โ€œhour of trialโ€ is the Great Tribulation, but that it points to the Day of the Lordโ€”the return of Jesusโ€”and that God will keep His people from His wrath at Christโ€™s return through the rapture.

But hear this warning from Matthew 7:21โ€“23:

โ€œNot everyone who says to Me, โ€˜Lord, Lord,โ€™ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heavenโ€ฆ And then I will declare to them, โ€˜I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!โ€™โ€

So, the greatest danger is not merely being wrong about a timeline. The greatest danger is being on the broad road while thinking we are safeโ€”calling Him โ€œLordโ€ while refusing obedience, repentance, and holiness.

Conclusion

Beloved, do not follow the crowd. Do not trust a teaching because it is popular. Test everything by Scripture. Beware of false prophets. Look for fruit.

And above all: cling to the gospelโ€”Jesus Christ crucifiedโ€”and walk the narrow way, because many will say โ€œLord, Lord,โ€ and only those who do the will of the Father will enter.

A Popular Claim Tested by Scripture: Daniel 9, and Revelation 3:10 vs the Preโ€‘Trib Rapture

A man on TV said there will be a preโ€‘tribulation rapture because Daniel 9 speaks of a sevenโ€‘year period that pertains to the Jews. From that, he concluded the Church must be raptured before the Great Tribulation. He also pointed to Revelation, saying God will keep His Church from the โ€œhour of trial.โ€ But from my studies with the Lord, that โ€œhour of trialโ€ is not the Great Tribulationโ€”it points to the return of Christ.

Hereโ€™s the concise core correction up front:

Neither Daniel 9 nor Revelation teaches a 7โ€‘year โ€œtribulation for the Jews,โ€ nor a preโ€‘tribulation rapture.

The โ€œhour of trialโ€ in Revelation 3:10 is not the Great Tribulationโ€”it is the Day of the Lord, the moment of Christโ€™s visible return and judgment.

Now letโ€™s walk through each claim and correct it biblically, step by step, with Scripture.

1๏ธโƒฃ Correction #1 โ€” Daniel 9 does NOT teach a 7โ€‘year โ€œtribulation for the Jewsโ€

Preโ€‘trib teachers often say: โ€œDaniel 9 teaches a future 7โ€‘year tribulation for Israel, so the Church must be removed first.โ€

But Daniel 9:27 does not say:

  • the 7 years are โ€œthe tribulationโ€
  • the 7 years are โ€œfor the Jews onlyโ€
  • the Church must be raptured before it

Daniel 9 is about Messiah, covenant, Jerusalem, and the destruction connected to that prophecyโ€”not a clear, explicit statement of a future โ€œ7โ€‘year tribulationโ€ label.

And notice this: the New Testament never calls Daniel 9:27 โ€œthe tribulation.โ€

  • Jesus never calls Daniel 9:27 โ€œthe tribulation.โ€
  • Paul never calls Daniel 9:27 โ€œthe tribulation.โ€
  • John never calls Daniel 9:27 โ€œthe tribulation.โ€

So, the preโ€‘trib claim is not stated plainly in the textโ€”it is assumed and then built into a system.

2๏ธโƒฃ Correction #2 โ€” Revelation 3:10 does NOT promise escape from the Great Tribulation

Preโ€‘trib teachers quote:

Revelation 3:10 โ€œI will keep you from the hour of trialโ€ฆโ€

They claim: โ€œThis means the Church is raptured before the tribulation.โ€

But look carefully.

A. โ€œKeep you fromโ€ = protect through, not remove from

The Greek phrase ฯ„ฮทฯฮฎฯƒฯ‰ แผฮบ (tฤ“rฤ“sล ek) means:

  • to guard through
  • to preserve during
  • to keep safe in the midst of

We know this because Jesus uses the same phrase:

John 17:15 โ€œI do not ask that You take them out of the world, but that You keep them from the evil one.โ€

Same Greek phrase. Same grammar. Same meaning.

Jesus explicitly says:

  • NOT remove them
  • BUT protect them

So, Revelation 3:10 cannot be used as a guaranteed proof of removal.

3๏ธโƒฃ Correction #3 โ€” The โ€œhour of trialโ€ is the Day of the Lord, not the Great Tribulation

The Lord showed me thisโ€”and Scripture agrees.

The โ€œhour of trialโ€ in Revelation 3:10 matches:

  • the Day of the Lord
  • the wrath at Christโ€™s return
  • sudden destruction
  • fire and vengeance
  • the visible appearing of Jesus

Letโ€™s prove it.

Revelation 3:10 โ€œthe hour of trial that is coming on the whole worldโ€ฆโ€

Compare with:

  • 2 Thessalonians 1:7โ€“10 โ€” โ€œWhen the Lord Jesus is revealedโ€ฆ in flaming fireโ€ฆ bringing vengeanceโ€ฆโ€
  • 1 Thessalonians 5:2โ€“3 โ€” โ€œThe Day of the Lordโ€ฆ sudden destructionโ€ฆโ€
  • Revelation 6:12โ€“17 โ€” cosmic signs; people hide; โ€œThe great day of His wrath has come.โ€

This is the same event. The โ€œhour of trialโ€ is the Day of the Lord, not the tribulation.

4๏ธโƒฃ Correction #4 โ€” Jesus places His return and the gathering AFTER the tribulation

This alone destroys preโ€‘tribulationism.

Matthew 24:29โ€“31 โ€œImmediately after the tribulationโ€ฆ the sun will be darkenedโ€ฆ then they will see the Son of Man comingโ€ฆ and He will send His angels to gather His elect.โ€

This is:

  • after the tribulation
  • cosmic signs
  • Jesus visibly returns
  • angels gather the elect (rapture)
  • the Day of the Lord begins

Preโ€‘trib teachers say: โ€œMatthew 24 is for Israel, not the church.โ€

But Jesus says: โ€œHe will gather His elect.โ€

The NT uses โ€œelectโ€ for:

  • the church (Col 3:12; Titus 1:1; Rom 8:33)
  • all believers (Rom 9:24โ€“26)

There is no โ€œIsraelโ€‘only raptureโ€ in Scripture.

5๏ธโƒฃ Correction #5 โ€” Revelation shows the saints present during the tribulation

Preโ€‘trib teachers say: โ€œThe church is gone after Revelation 4.โ€

But Revelation shows:

  • saints
  • believers
  • martyrs
  • those who keep the commandments of God and faith in Jesus
    all during the tribulation.

Revelation 7:14 โ€œThese are the ones coming out of the great tribulationโ€ฆโ€

They are:

  • washed in the blood of the Lamb
  • standing before God
  • from every nation
    not just Israel.

This is the church.

6๏ธโƒฃ Correction #6 โ€” The rapture and resurrection happen at the last trumpet

Preโ€‘trib teachers say: โ€œThe rapture is before the tribulation.โ€

But Paul says:

1 Corinthians 15:52 โ€œat the last trumpetโ€ฆโ€

And Revelation shows:

  • the last trumpet (7th trumpet)
  • the resurrection
  • the kingdom declared
  • the wrath announced
  • the saints rewarded
    all at the same moment.

This is after the tribulation.

๐Ÿ”ฅ Final Summary: The Biblical Corrections

โŒ Daniel 9 does NOT teach a 7โ€‘year tribulation for the Jews

It is assumed and then built into a system.

โŒ Revelation 3:10 does NOT promise escape from the tribulation

It promises protection in the Day of the Lord.

โŒ The โ€œhour of trialโ€ is NOT the tribulation

It is the Day of the Lord at Christโ€™s return.

โŒ Jesus does NOT return before the tribulation

He returns after it.

โŒ The church is NOT absent from Revelation

Believers are present throughout the tribulation narrative.

โŒ The rapture is NOT before the tribulation

It is at the last trumpet, after the tribulation.

Scripture Proof: Revelation 3:10โ€™s โ€œHour of Trialโ€ Is the Day of the Lordโ€”Christโ€™s Return, Not the Great Tribulation

I will prove with scripture that the hour of tribulation in Rev 3:10 is talking about the return of Christ

Here is the clear, Scriptureโ€‘anchored proof that the โ€œhour of trialโ€ in Revelation 3:10 is the Day of the Lordโ€”the return of Christโ€”not the Great Tribulation.

Iโ€™ll give you the core argument first, then walk you through every biblical connection.

โญ Core Proof

The โ€œhour of trialโ€ in Revelation 3:10 matches every single Dayโ€‘ofโ€‘theโ€‘Lord passage in the Bible:

  • global judgment
  • sudden destruction
  • fire
  • testing of all humanity
  • cosmic signs
  • Christ revealed
  • wrath poured out

It does not match Jesusโ€™ description of the Great Tribulation.

1๏ธโƒฃ The โ€œhour of trialโ€ is GLOBAL โ€” just like the Day of the Lord

Revelation 3:10

โ€œthe hour of trial that is coming on the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth.โ€

The Great Tribulation is not global.

Jesus says the Great Tribulation is:

Matthew 24:21

โ€œsuch as has not been from the beginning of the worldโ€ฆโ€

But He also says it is centered in Judea:

Matthew 24:16

โ€œthen let those who are in Judea fleeโ€ฆโ€

The Great Tribulation is geographically centered, not worldwide.

But the Day of the Lord is worldwide:

Isaiah 13:11

โ€œI will punish the world for its evilโ€ฆโ€

Joel 3:2

โ€œI will gather all nationsโ€ฆโ€

Zephaniah 1:18

โ€œHe will make a sudden end of all who dwell on the earth.โ€

Revelation 3:10 uses the same phrase:

โ€œthose who dwell on the earth.โ€

This phrase in Revelation always refers to the wicked who face Godโ€™s final wrath (Rev 6:10; 8:13; 11:10; 13:8; 17:2).

So, the โ€œhour of trialโ€ is the global judgment of the wicked, not the tribulation of the saints.

2๏ธโƒฃ The โ€œhour of trialโ€ is a testing of the wicked โ€” not persecution of the righteous

The Great Tribulation is Satanโ€™s wrath against believers:

Revelation 12:12

โ€œthe devil has come downโ€ฆ in great wrathโ€ฆโ€

Revelation 12:17

โ€œthe dragonโ€ฆ went off to make war on those who keep the commandments of Godโ€ฆโ€

Matthew 24:9

โ€œthey will deliver you up to tribulationโ€ฆโ€

The Great Tribulation is persecution of the saints.

But Revelation 3:10 says the โ€œhour of trialโ€ is:

โ€œto test those who dwell on the earth.โ€

This is Godโ€™s testing of the wicked, not Satanโ€™s persecution of the righteous.

That matches the Day of the Lord:

Isaiah 24:1โ€“6

โ€œThe LORD lays waste the earthโ€ฆ the inhabitants suffer for their guiltโ€ฆโ€

2 Thessalonians 1:8

โ€œin flaming fire, inflicting vengeanceโ€ฆโ€

This is Godโ€™s wrath, not the tribulation.

3๏ธโƒฃ The โ€œhour of trialโ€ is short and sudden โ€” just like the Day of the Lord

The Great Tribulation lasts 3ยฝ years (Dan 7:25; Rev 12:14; Rev 13:5).

But the โ€œhour of trialโ€ is called an hour:

Revelation 3:10

โ€œthe hour of trialโ€ฆโ€

This matches the Day of the Lord:

Revelation 18:10

โ€œin a single hour your judgment has come.โ€

Revelation 18:17

โ€œin a single hour all this wealth has been laid waste.โ€

Revelation 18:19

โ€œin a single hour she has been laid waste.โ€

The Day of the Lord is repeatedly described as:

  • sudden
  • fast
  • catastrophic
  • one decisive moment

The Great Tribulation is long, not sudden.

4๏ธโƒฃ The โ€œhour of trialโ€ matches the sixth seal, which is the Day of the Lord

Compare Revelation 3:10 with Revelation 6:12โ€“17:

Revelation 6:12โ€“17

  • sun darkened
  • moon blood
  • stars fall
  • sky rolled back
  • people hide
  • โ€œthe great day of His wrath has comeโ€

This is the Day of the Lord described in:

  • Joel 2
  • Isaiah 13
  • Matthew 24
  • 2 Thessalonians 1

And notice:

Revelation 6:17

โ€œthe great day of His wrath has come.โ€

Not โ€œhas been happening for 7 years.โ€

This is the arrival of wrath at Christโ€™s return.

Revelation 3:10 refers to that moment.

5๏ธโƒฃ Jesus promises protection from Godโ€™s wrath, not escape from tribulation

1 Thessalonians 1:10

โ€œJesusโ€ฆ delivers us from the wrath to come.โ€

1 Thessalonians 5:9

โ€œGod has not appointed us to wrathโ€ฆโ€

What wrath?

Paul tells you:

2 Thessalonians 1:7โ€“10

โ€œWhen the Lord Jesus is revealedโ€ฆ in flaming fireโ€ฆ inflicting vengeanceโ€ฆโ€

This is the Day of the Lord, not the tribulation.

Jesus never promises escape from tribulation:

John 16:33

โ€œIn the world you will have tribulationโ€ฆโ€

Acts 14:22

โ€œthrough many tribulations we must enter the kingdomโ€ฆโ€

But He does promise protection from Godโ€™s wrath:

John 17:15

โ€œI do not ask that You take them out of the world, but that You keep them from the evil one.โ€

Same Greek phrase as Revelation 3:10.

โ€œKeep fromโ€ means protect through, not remove before.

6๏ธโƒฃ The โ€œhour of trialโ€ is tied to Christโ€™s coming in Revelation

Revelation 3:11 (the very next verse):

Revelation 3:11

โ€œBehold, I am coming quickly.โ€

Jesus connects:

  • the โ€œhour of trialโ€
  • His coming

This is the same pattern in:

Matthew 24:29โ€“31

โ€œAfter the tribulationโ€ฆ the sun will be darkenedโ€ฆ then they will see the Son of Man comingโ€ฆโ€

1 Thessalonians 4โ€“5

  • Coming of the Lord
  • Resurrection
  • Rapture
  • Day of the Lord
  • Sudden destruction

All one event.

Revelation 3:10โ€“11 fits this perfectly.

โญ Final Conclusion

The โ€œhour of trialโ€ in Revelation 3:10 is:

NOT

  • the Great Tribulation
  • Satanโ€™s wrath
  • persecution of believers
  • a 7โ€‘year period
  • a Jewish-only event

BUT

  • the Day of the Lord
  • Godโ€™s wrath
  • sudden global judgment
  • the moment Christ is revealed
  • the fire and vengeance Paul describes
  • the sixth seal event
  • the wrath believers are saved from

Every Scripture aligns with this.

The Key Distinction That Unlocks Revelation 3:10: Godโ€™s Global Wrath (Day of the Lord) vs Satanโ€™s Persecution (Great Tribulation)

The full, Scriptureโ€‘based proof that the โ€œhour of trialโ€ in Revelation 3:10 is the Day of the Lord at Christโ€™s return, not the Great Tribulation. Iโ€™ll walk you through every biblical connection in a way thatโ€™s clear, structured, and airtight.

โญ THE SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT KEY

Revelation 3:10 describes Godโ€™s wrath on the whole world.

The Great Tribulation describes Satanโ€™s wrath on the saints.

Those are two completely different events.

Once you see that distinction, the text becomes unmistakable.

1๏ธโƒฃ The โ€œhour of trialโ€ is GLOBAL โ€” the Great Tribulation is NOT

Revelation 3:10

โ€œthe hour of trial that is coming on the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth.โ€

Jesusโ€™ Great Tribulation is not global:

Matthew 24:16

โ€œlet those who are in Judea fleeโ€ฆโ€

The Great Tribulation is centered in Israel, not the whole world.

But the Day of the Lord is global:

Isaiah 13:11

โ€œI will punish the world for its evilโ€ฆโ€

Zephaniah 1:18

โ€œHe will make a sudden end of all who dwell on the earth.โ€

Revelation 3:10 uses the same phrase:

โ€œthose who dwell on the earth.โ€

In Revelation, that phrase always refers to the wicked under Godโ€™s judgment.

So, the โ€œhour of trialโ€ is global wrath, not local tribulation.

2๏ธโƒฃ The โ€œhour of trialโ€ tests the WICKED โ€” the Great Tribulation persecutes the RIGHTEOUS

Revelation 3:10 says:

โ€œto test those who dwell on the earth.โ€

That phrase is used in Revelation for:

  • idolaters
  • unbelievers
  • the wicked
  • those who receive the mark

Never for the church.

But the Great Tribulation is Satanโ€™s persecution of believers:

Revelation 12:17

โ€œthe dragonโ€ฆ went off to make war on those who keep the commandments of Godโ€ฆโ€

Matthew 24:9

โ€œthey will deliver you up to tribulationโ€ฆโ€

The Great Tribulation = Satanโ€™s wrath   The โ€œhour of trialโ€ = Godโ€™s wrath

Those cannot be the same event.

3๏ธโƒฃ The โ€œhour of trialโ€ is SUDDEN โ€” the Great Tribulation is LONG

Revelation 3:10 calls it:

โ€œthe hour of trialโ€

The Great Tribulation lasts 3ยฝ years:

  • Daniel 7:25
  • Daniel 12:7
  • Revelation 12:14
  • Revelation 13:5

But the Day of the Lord is repeatedly described as a single sudden moment:

Revelation 18:10

โ€œin a single hour your judgment has come.โ€

Revelation 18:17

โ€œin a single hour all this wealth has been laid waste.โ€

Revelation 18:19

โ€œin a single hour she has been laid waste.โ€

The โ€œhourโ€ language is Dayโ€‘ofโ€‘theโ€‘Lord language, not tribulation language.

4๏ธโƒฃ The โ€œhour of trialโ€ matches the SIXTH SEAL โ€” which is the Day of the Lord

Compare Revelation 3:10 with Revelation 6:12โ€“17:

Revelation 6:12โ€“17

  • sun darkened
  • moon blood
  • stars fall
  • sky rolled back
  • people hide
  • โ€œthe great day of His wrath has comeโ€

This is the Day of the Lord described in:

  • Joel 2
  • Isaiah 13
  • Matthew 24
  • 2 Thessalonians 1

And notice:

Revelation 6:17

โ€œthe great day of His wrath has come.โ€

Not โ€œhas been happening for 7 years.โ€

This is the arrival of Godโ€™s wrath at Christโ€™s return.

Revelation 3:10 refers to that moment.

5๏ธโƒฃ Jesus promises protection from GODโ€™S WRATH โ€” not escape from tribulation

1 Thessalonians 1:10

โ€œJesusโ€ฆ delivers us from the wrath to come.โ€

1 Thessalonians 5:9

โ€œGod has not appointed us to wrathโ€ฆโ€

What wrath?

Paul tells you:

2 Thessalonians 1:7โ€“10

โ€œWhen the Lord Jesus is revealedโ€ฆ in flaming fireโ€ฆ inflicting vengeanceโ€ฆโ€

This is the Day of the Lord, not the tribulation.

Jesus never promises escape from tribulation:

John 16:33

โ€œIn the world you will have tribulationโ€ฆโ€

Acts 14:22

โ€œthrough many tribulations we must enter the kingdomโ€ฆโ€

But He does promise protection from Godโ€™s wrath:

John 17:15

โ€œI do not ask that You take them out of the world, but that You keep them from the evil one.โ€

Same Greek phrase as Revelation 3:10:

  • ฯ„ฮทฯฮฎฯƒฯ‰ แผฮบ (tฤ“rฤ“sล ek)
  • means protect through, not remove before

Revelation 3:10 cannot mean โ€œrapture before tribulation.โ€

6๏ธโƒฃ Jesus connects the โ€œhour of trialโ€ directly to HIS COMING

The very next verse:

Revelation 3:11

โ€œBehold, I am coming quickly.โ€

Jesus ties:

  • the โ€œhour of trialโ€
  • His return

This is the same pattern in:

Matthew 24:29โ€“31

โ€œAfter the tribulationโ€ฆ the sun will be darkenedโ€ฆ then they will see the Son of Man comingโ€ฆโ€

1 Thessalonians 4โ€“5

  • Coming of the Lord
  • Resurrection
  • Rapture
  • Day of the Lord
  • Sudden destruction

All one event.

Revelation 3:10โ€“11 fits this perfectly.

โญ FINAL PROOF SUMMARY

The โ€œhour of trialโ€ in Revelation 3:10 is:

NOT:

  • the Great Tribulation
  • Satanโ€™s wrath
  • persecution of believers
  • a 7โ€‘year period
  • a Jewish-only event

BUT:

  • the Day of the Lord
  • Godโ€™s wrath
  • sudden global judgment
  • the moment Christ is revealed
  • the fire and vengeance Paul describes
  • the sixth seal event
  • the wrath believers are saved from

Every Scripture aligns with this.

Breakdown:

  • ฯ„ฮทฯฮฎฯƒฯ‰ แผฮบ (tฤ“rฤ“sล ek)
    • ฯ„ฮทฯฮญฯ‰ = to keep, guard, preserve
    • แผฮบ = out of, from, away from
    • Used similarly in John 17:15:โ€œkeep them from (ฯ„ฮทฯฮฎฯƒแฟƒฯ‚ ฮฑแฝฯ„ฮฟแฝบฯ‚ แผฮบ) the evil oneโ€ Jesus explicitly says not to take them out of the world, but to guard them in it. So โ€œkeep fromโ€ = protect through, not remove beforehand.
  • แฝฅฯฮฑฯ‚ ฯ„ฮฟแฟฆ ฯ€ฮตฮนฯฮฑฯƒฮผฮฟแฟฆ (hลras tou peirasmou)
    • แฝฅฯฮฑ = hour, a short, decisive time
    • ฯ€ฮตฮนฯฮฑฯƒฮผฯŒฯ‚ = trial, testing
    • This is a specific, short, decisive moment of testing, not a prolonged 7โ€‘year period.
  • แผฯ€แฝถ ฯ„แฟ†ฯ‚ ฮฟแผฐฮบฮฟฯ…ฮผฮญฮฝฮทฯ‚ แฝ…ฮปฮทฯ‚ (epi tฤ“s oikoumenฤ“s holฤ“s)
    • โ€œupon the whole inhabited worldโ€
    • Global scopeโ€”matches Dayโ€‘ofโ€‘theโ€‘Lord judgment (Isaiah 13:11; Zephaniah 1:18).
    • โ€œthose who dwell on the earthโ€
    • In Revelation, this phrase consistently refers to the wicked, not the church (Rev 6:10; 8:13; 11:10; 13:8; 17:2).

So, in Greek, Revelation 3:10 says:

โ€œBecause you have kept My word of endurance, I also will guard you through/out of the decisive hour of testing that is coming upon the whole world, to test the earthโ€‘dwellers (the wicked).โ€

That is Dayโ€‘ofโ€‘theโ€‘Lord language, not Great Tribulation language.

Full timeline: seals, trumpets, bowls, and Christโ€™s return

Seals (Revelation 6โ€“8)

  • Seal 1โ€“4:Conquest, war, famine, death (Rev 6:1โ€“8)
    • Ongoing judgments, not yet the Day of the Lord.
  • Seal 5:Martyrs under the altar (Rev 6:9โ€“11)
    • Saints killed during tribulation; they cry out for vengeance.
  • Seal 6:Cosmic signs + terror + โ€œday of His wrath has comeโ€ (Rev 6:12โ€“17)
    • Sun darkened, moon like blood, stars fall, sky rolled back.
    • People hide and say:โ€œFor the great day of His wrath has come.โ€
    • This matches Matthew 24:29โ€“31 and OT Dayโ€‘ofโ€‘theโ€‘Lord passages (Joel 2; Isaiah 13).
  • Seal 7:Silence in heaven + introduction of trumpets (Rev 8:1โ€“2)
    • Transition into more detailed judgments.

Trumpets (Revelation 8โ€“11)

  • Trumpets 1โ€“4:   Judgments on earth, sea, rivers, heavens (Rev 8:7โ€“12).
  • Trumpet 5โ€“6:   Demonic torment and massive death (Rev 9).
  • Trumpet 7 (last trumpet):
    • Kingdom declared:โ€œThe kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christโ€ (Rev 11:15).
    • Wrath announced:โ€œYour wrath cameโ€ (Rev 11:18).
    • Reward for saints:โ€œand the time for rewarding Your servantsโ€ฆโ€ (Rev 11:18).
    • This matches 1 Corinthians 15:52 (โ€œat the last trumpetโ€) and 1 Thessalonians 4:16โ€“17 (coming, resurrection, catching up).

This is the moment of Christโ€™s return, the Day of the Lord, the โ€œhour of trial.โ€

Bowls (Revelation 15โ€“16)

  • Bowls are the outpouring of completed wrath:
    • โ€œSeven golden bowls full of the wrath of Godโ€ (Rev 15:7).
    • Poured out after the Day of the Lord is declared and Christโ€™s kingdom is established.

So:

  • Tribulation = seals 1โ€“5, rise of Antichrist, persecution of saints.
  • Day of the Lord / โ€œhour of trialโ€ = sixth seal + last trumpet + beginning of bowls.
  • Christโ€™s return = after tribulation, at the last trumpet, when wrath begins.

Refutation of every major preโ€‘trib argument (with Scripture)

1. โ€œRevelation 3:10 proves preโ€‘trib rapture.โ€

Claim: โ€œKeep you from the hour of trialโ€ = remove you before tribulation.

Biblical correction:

  • Greek: ฯ„ฮทฯฮฎฯƒฯ‰ แผฮบ = guard/protect, not necessarily remove.
  • John 17:15:โ€œI do not ask that You take them out of the world, but that You keep them from the evil one.โ€ Same phrase, and Jesus explicitly denies removal.
  • Scope: โ€œwhole worldโ€ฆ those who dwell on the earthโ€ = wicked under Godโ€™s wrath, not saints under Satanโ€™s wrath.
  • Timing: Connected to โ€œI am coming quicklyโ€ (Rev 3:11) = Day of the Lord, not start of tribulation.

2. โ€œThe church is not in Revelation after chapter 3.โ€

Claim: โ€œWord โ€˜churchโ€™ disappears, so the church is gone.โ€

Biblical correction:

  • Saints, believers, and those who โ€œkeep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesusโ€ are clearly present:
    • Revelation 7:14:โ€œThese are the ones coming out of the great tribulationโ€ฆ washed in the blood of the Lamb.โ€
    • Revelation 12:17:โ€œthose who keep the commandments of God and hold to the testimony of Jesus.โ€
    • Revelation 13:7:โ€œit was allowed to make war on the saintsโ€ฆโ€
  • The NT calls believers โ€œsaintsโ€ constantly (Rom 1:7; 1 Cor 1:2; Eph 1:1).
  • Changing the label from โ€œchurchโ€ to โ€œsaintsโ€ doesnโ€™t make them disappear.

3. โ€œThe rapture is before the tribulation.โ€

Claim: โ€œWe are taken before the trouble starts.โ€

Biblical correction:

  • Matthew 24:29โ€“31:โ€œImmediately after the tribulationโ€ฆ they will see the Son of Man comingโ€ฆ He will send His angelsโ€ฆ gather His elect.โ€
    • After tribulation
    • Visible coming
    • Angels gather = rapture
  • 1 Thessalonians 4โ€“5:
    • Coming of the Lord, resurrection, catching up (4:16โ€“17)
    • Then Day of the Lord, sudden destruction (5:2โ€“3)
    • Same event, same timing.
  • 1 Corinthians 15:52:โ€œat the last trumpetโ€ฆโ€
    • Last trumpet = Revelation 11:15โ€“18 (kingdom, wrath, reward).
    • Thatโ€™s after tribulation, not before.

4. โ€œThe Great Tribulation is Godโ€™s wrath, so the church must be gone.โ€

Claim: โ€œTribulation = wrath, and weโ€™re not appointed to wrath.โ€

Biblical correction:

  • Great Tribulation = Satanโ€™s wrath and manโ€™s persecution:
    • Revelation 12:12:โ€œthe devil has come downโ€ฆ in great wrathโ€ฆโ€
    • Revelation 12:17:โ€œthe dragonโ€ฆ went off to make war on those who keep the commandments of Godโ€ฆโ€
    • Matthew 24:9:โ€œthey will deliver you up to tribulationโ€ฆโ€
  • Godโ€™s wrath = Day of the Lord, not tribulation:
    • 1 Thessalonians 1:10; 5:9: delivered from wrath, not tribulation.
    • 2 Thessalonians 1:7โ€“10: wrath when Jesus is revealed in flaming fire.
    • Revelation 6:17:โ€œthe great day of His wrath has come.โ€
  • Believers are promised protection from wrath, not from tribulation (John 16:33; Acts 14:22).

5. โ€œDaniel 9:27 proves a 7โ€‘year tribulation for Israel only.โ€

Claim: โ€œ70th week = future 7โ€‘year tribulation, church removed.โ€

Biblical correction:

  • Daniel 9 never uses the word โ€œtribulation.โ€
  • The NT never calls Daniel 9:27 โ€œthe tribulation.โ€
  • Jesusโ€™ Great Tribulation is defined in Matthew 24, not Daniel 9.
  • Daniel 7 and 12 give 3ยฝ years of intense persecution, not 7 years of โ€œtribulation for Jews only.โ€
  • The saints in Daniel are the same kind of people as the saints in Revelationโ€”Godโ€™s people, not a separate category.

Verseโ€‘byโ€‘Verse Alignment: Matthew 24 (Jesusโ€™ Timeline) Matched to Revelation (Johnโ€™s Vision)

What part of this hits you hardest right nowโ€”the Greek, the timeline, or the refutation?

Walking verseโ€‘byโ€‘verse through Matthew 24 and lining it up with Revelation.

Overview: Matthew 24 as the narrative, Revelation as the vision

  • Matthew 24 โ€” Jesusโ€™ spoken timeline to the disciples (Olivet Discourse).
  • Revelation 6โ€“13, 19 โ€” Johnโ€™s vision of the same endโ€‘time realities in symbolic form.

Theyโ€™re not competingโ€”theyโ€™re two angles on the same sequence.

Structure of Matthew 24

Hereโ€™s the basic flow:

  1. vv.4โ€“8 โ€” โ€œBirth painsโ€: deception, wars, famines, earthquakes.
  2. vv.9โ€“14 โ€” Persecution, apostasy, endurance, gospel to all nations.
  3. vv.15โ€“22 โ€” Abomination of desolation, flight, Great Tribulation.
  4. vv.23โ€“28 โ€” False Christs, false signs, warnings about deception.
  5. vv.29โ€“31 โ€” Cosmic signs, after the tribulation, coming of Christ, gathering of the elect.
  6. vv.32โ€“51 โ€” Parables and warnings about watching, suddenness, faithfulness.

Now letโ€™s lay Revelation alongside that.

1. Birth pains (Matthew 24:4โ€“8) โ†” Seals 1โ€“4 (Revelation 6:1โ€“8)

Matthew 24:6โ€“8

  • Wars and rumors of wars
  • Nation against nation
  • Famines and earthquakes
  • โ€œThese are the beginning of birth pains.โ€

Revelation 6:1โ€“8 โ€” Seals 1โ€“4

  • Seal 1: White horse โ€” conquest, false peace.
  • Seal 2: Red horse โ€” war, โ€œtake peace from the earth.โ€
  • Seal 3: Black horse โ€” famine.
  • Seal 4: Pale horse โ€” death, pestilence.

These match Jesusโ€™ order:

  • False Christs (v.5) โ†” deceptive conquest (Seal 1).
  • Wars (vv.6โ€“7) โ†” Seal 2.
  • Famines (v.7) โ†” Seal 3.
  • Death (implied in โ€œbirth painsโ€) โ†” Seal 4.

So, Matthew 24:4โ€“8 = early seals โ€” general tribulation, not yet the Great Tribulation.

2. Persecution and endurance (Matthew 24:9โ€“14) โ†” Seal 5 (Revelation 6:9โ€“11)

Matthew 24:9โ€“14

  • โ€œThey will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you.โ€
  • โ€œYou will be hated by all nations.โ€
  • Many fall away, betray, love grows cold.
  • โ€œThe one who endures to the end will be saved.โ€
  • Gospel preached to all nations.

Revelation 6:9โ€“11 โ€” Seal 5

  • Souls under the altar who were slain for the word of God and their testimony.
  • They cry, โ€œHow long, O Lordโ€ฆ will You not judge and avenge our blood?โ€
  • Told to rest until the full number of martyrs is complete.

This is the same phase:

  • Tribulation on believers.
  • Witness, martyrdom, endurance.
  • No wrath yetโ€”this is Satanโ€™s and manโ€™s persecution, not Godโ€™s Dayโ€‘ofโ€‘theโ€‘Lord wrath.

Matthew 24:9โ€“14 = Seal 5 atmosphere.

3. Abomination of desolation & flight (Matthew 24:15โ€“22) โ†” Beast & image (Revelation 13)

Matthew 24:15โ€“22

  • โ€œWhen you see the abomination of desolationโ€ฆ standing in the holy placeโ€ฆโ€
  • Those in Judea flee to the mountains.
  • โ€œThen there will be great tribulation, such as has not been from the beginning of the world until nowโ€ฆโ€

Revelation 13

  • Beast rises, given authority over every tribe, people, language, nation.
  • Image of the beast set up; all must worship it.
  • No buying or selling without the mark.

This is the same turning point:

  • Danielโ€™s abomination โ†” Beastโ€™s image.
  • Israelโ€™s flight โ†” intense persecution and control.
  • Great Tribulation begins hereโ€”the final, concentrated period of Satanโ€™s wrath.

Matthew 24:15โ€“22 = Revelation 13 moment.

4. False Christs and deceptive signs (Matthew 24:23โ€“28) โ†” Beast & False Prophet (Revelation 13)

Matthew 24:23โ€“24

  • โ€œIf anyone says, โ€˜Here is the Christ,โ€™ or โ€˜There He is,โ€™ do not believe it.โ€
  • False Christs and false prophets show great signs and wonders to mislead, if possible, even the elect.

Revelation 13:13โ€“14

  • False Prophet performs great signs, even calling fire down from heaven.
  • Deceives those who dwell on the earth by the signs given to him to perform.

Same dynamic:

  • Deceptive signs.
  • False claims of authority.
  • Global religious deception.

Matthew 24:23โ€“28 = Revelation 13 deception phase.

5. Cosmic signs & โ€œafter the tribulationโ€ (Matthew 24:29) โ†” Sixth seal (Revelation 6:12โ€“17)

Matthew 24:29

โ€œImmediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, the moon will not give its light, the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.โ€

Revelation 6:12โ€“14 โ€” Sixth seal

  • Great earthquake.
  • Sun becomes black like sackcloth.
  • Moon becomes like blood.
  • Stars fall to earth.
  • Sky rolled up like a scroll.

Same signs, same order, same moment.

This is the pivot:

  • Great Tribulation (Satanโ€™s wrath) ends.
  • Day of the Lord (Godโ€™s wrath) begins.

Matthew 24:29 = Sixth seal.

6. The visible coming & gathering of the elect (Matthew 24:30โ€“31) โ†” Day of wrath, great multitude, last trumpet (Revelation 6โ€“7; 11)

Matthew 24:30โ€“31

  • โ€œThen will appear in heaven the sign of the Son of Manโ€ฆโ€
  • โ€œThey will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.โ€
  • โ€œHe will send out His angels with a great trumpet, and they will gather His elect from the four windsโ€ฆโ€

Now watch how Revelation lines up:

Revelation 6:15โ€“17 โ€” Reaction of the wicked

  • Kings, great ones, rich, powerful hide in caves.
  • They say:
โ€œHide us from the face of Him who is seated on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb, for the great day of their wrath has comeโ€ฆโ€

Thatโ€™s Matthew 24:30 from the wickedโ€™s perspectiveโ€”they see Him and panic.

Revelation 7:9โ€“14 โ€” Great multitude

  • A countless multitude from every nation standing before the throne and the Lamb.
  • They โ€œcome out of the great tribulationโ€ and are washed in the blood of the Lamb.

Thatโ€™s Matthew 24:31 from the churchโ€™s perspectiveโ€”the gathered elect now seen in heaven.

Revelation 11:15โ€“18 โ€” Seventh (last) trumpet

  • โ€œThe kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ.โ€
  • โ€œYour wrath came, and the time for the dead to be judged, and for rewarding Your servantsโ€ฆโ€

Thatโ€™s the great trumpet of Matthew 24:31 and the trumpet of God in 1 Thessalonians 4:16.

So:

  • Matthew 24:30โ€“31 = Sixth seal + seventh trumpet + gathering of the elect.
  • Revelation 6โ€“7; 11 = same event from multiple angles.

7. Watchfulness and suddenness (Matthew 24:32โ€“51) โ†” Day of the Lord warnings (1 Thess 5; Revelation)

Jesus ends Matthew 24 with:

  • Fig tree parable โ€” know the season.
  • โ€œNo one knows the day or hour.โ€
  • Days of Noah โ€” eating, drinking, sudden judgment.
  • Two in the field, one taken, one left.
  • Command to watch, be ready, be faithful.

Paul and Revelation echo this:

  • 1 Thessalonians 5:2โ€“3 โ€” Day of the Lord comes like a thief; sudden destruction.
  • Revelation 3:3; 16:15 โ€” โ€œI will come like a thief.โ€

Same tone:

  • Suddenness.
  • Need for watchfulness.
  • Separation between faithful and unfaithful.

Pulling it together: one continuous spine

Hereโ€™s the simplified alignment:

  • Matt 24:4โ€“8 โ†” Rev 6:1โ€“8 โ€” Birth pains โ†” Seals 1โ€“4.
  • Matt 24:9โ€“14 โ†” Rev 6:9โ€“11 โ€” Persecution/endurance โ†” Seal 5.
  • Matt 24:15โ€“22 โ†” Rev 13 โ€” Abomination, flight, Great Tribulation โ†” Beast, image, mark.
  • Matt 24:23โ€“28 โ†” Rev 13 โ€” False Christs, deceptive signs โ†” Beast & False Prophet.
  • Matt 24:29 โ†” Rev 6:12โ€“17 โ€” Cosmic signs โ€œafter the tribulationโ€ โ†” Sixth seal, Day of wrath.
  • Matt 24:30โ€“31 โ†” Rev 6โ€“7; 11 โ€” Visible coming, great trumpet, gathering โ†” wrath announced, great multitude, last trumpet.

So, Matthew 24 isnโ€™t a different program from Revelationโ€”itโ€™s the narrative backbone Revelation hangs its visions on.

Epilogue

If you finished this message, then the question is not merely, โ€œWhich timeline is right?โ€ The question Jesus presses on every heart is: Am I on the narrow wayโ€”and am I truly known by Him? Many will say โ€œLord, Lord,โ€ and still be turned away (Matthew 7:21โ€“23). That is why this matters.

So, I leave you with this charge: do not follow the crowd, do not trust a teaching because it is popular, and do not build your hope on what a man says on TV. Test everything by Scripture.

Watch. Pray. Endure. Keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus. And above all, cling to the gospelโ€”Jesus Christ crucifiedโ€”and walk in obedience until He comes.

If anything in this message convicts you, donโ€™t argue with itโ€”bring it to the Lord. Repent where you must. Forgive where you must. Make your life ready. The Bridegroom is coming, and only those who do the will of the Father will enter.

โ€œThe Narrow Way and the Day of the Lord.โ€ย ย
โ€œThe Narrow Way and the Day of the Lord.โ€

This playlist is a call back to the fear of the Lord, the narrow way, and the true gospel of Jesus Christ โ€” repentance, holiness, endurance, and obedience. These songs confront deception, expose false security, and prepare the heart for the Day of the Lord. Not the โ€œeasy escape,โ€ not the broad road, but the path Jesus warned would be found by few.

Keith Green cries out for repentance. Carman declares Christโ€™s victory and the reality of spiritual warfare. Benny Hinnโ€™s worship atmosphere (with Steve Brock & Alvin Slaughter) stirs the soul to holiness and awe.

This playlist is for those who refuse compromise, who reject comfortable endโ€‘times teaching, and who choose to stand firm until the appearing of Jesus Christ.

โ€œEnter by the narrow gateโ€ฆ for the way is hard that leads to life, and few find it.โ€ โ€” Matthew 7:13โ€“14
