He also warned us to beware of false prophets, and to judge teaching by its fruit (Matthew 7:15–20). So, I am asking you to read this message the way a disciple should: with an open Bible, a sober heart, and a willingness to obey whatever the Lord shows you.

My aim is simple: to lift up Jesus Christ crucified, to call the Church to repentance and endurance, and to correct end‑times teaching that comforts the flesh but does not prepare the soul.

Do Not Follow the Crowd: Jesus’ Narrow Way Warning (Matthew 7:13–23) and the Rapture Timing Debate

In my message I wrote at midnight this morning (it is now 9:00 PM), I left out some words the Lord gave me. Today, the Holy Spirit is pressing me to write them to you—and to set the theme by Jesus’ warning in Matthew 7:13–23.

Jesus said, “Enter by the narrow gate.” The broad way is crowded, and it leads to destruction. The narrow way is hard, and few find it. (Matthew 7:13–14)

That is why we must be careful when we see “many” believing something. A majority does not prove truth. A crowd does not prove salvation. Jesus Himself said the road that leads to life is found by few.

1) Why there are more pre‑trib believers than post‑trib believers

One reason there appear to be more pre‑tribulation believers than those who expect to endure is this: most people are not truly saved, and many do not make time to study the Bible for themselves. They repeat what they have heard instead of searching the Scriptures with fear of the Lord.

Jesus warned that many are on the broad road. Many will be deceived. Many will be lost. (Matthew 7:13)

And Jesus also warned about false prophets: “Beware of false prophets… you will know them by their fruits.” (Matthew 7:15–20)

So, it should not surprise us that there are many voices teaching confidently about timing, while neglecting the weightier matter—the gospel of Jesus Christ: His death, His blood, repentance, holiness, and obedience.

The Holy Spirit comes when we preach Christ crucified and call people to repentance—not when we argue endlessly about timelines. And the Holy Spirit corrects believers who become consumed with timing while ignoring the cross.

2) Why there is no single, universally accepted teaching on the timing

Another reason there are multiple rapture teachings (pre, mid, post) is because God has not given human beings the power to know the timing of Christ’s return.

Jesus said plainly:

“ It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority. But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me…” (Acts 1:7–8)

The witness of the Church is not “the day and hour.” Jesus said no one knows that. (Matthew 24:36)

The witness of the Church is Jesus—His death and resurrection—and the call to follow Him on the narrow way.

3) Revelation 3:10 in the light of Matthew 7:13–23

When I read Revelation 3:10, the Holy Spirit does not tell me that the “hour of trial” is the Great Tribulation, but that it points to the Day of the Lord—the return of Jesus—and that God will keep His people from His wrath at Christ’s return through the rapture.

But hear this warning from Matthew 7:21–23:

“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven… And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’”

So, the greatest danger is not merely being wrong about a timeline. The greatest danger is being on the broad road while thinking we are safe—calling Him “Lord” while refusing obedience, repentance, and holiness.

Conclusion

Beloved, do not follow the crowd. Do not trust a teaching because it is popular. Test everything by Scripture. Beware of false prophets. Look for fruit.

Refutation of every major pre‑trib argument (with Scripture)

1. “Revelation 3:10 proves pre‑trib rapture.”

Claim: “Keep you from the hour of trial” = remove you before tribulation.

Biblical correction:

• Greek: τηρήσω ἐκ = guard/protect, not necessarily remove.
• John 17:15:“I do not ask that You take them out of the world, but that You keep them from the evil one.” Same phrase, and Jesus explicitly denies removal.
• Scope: “whole world… those who dwell on the earth” = wicked under God’s wrath, not saints under Satan’s wrath.
• Timing: Connected to “I am coming quickly” (Rev 3:11) = Day of the Lord, not start of tribulation.

2. “The church is not in Revelation after chapter 3.”

Claim: “Word ‘church’ disappears, so the church is gone.”

Biblical correction:

• Saints, believers, and those who “keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus” are clearly present:
  • Revelation 7:14:“These are the ones coming out of the great tribulation… washed in the blood of the Lamb.”
  • Revelation 12:17:“those who keep the commandments of God and hold to the testimony of Jesus.”
  • Revelation 13:7:“it was allowed to make war on the saints…”
• The NT calls believers “saints” constantly (Rom 1:7; 1 Cor 1:2; Eph 1:1).
• Changing the label from “church” to “saints” doesn’t make them disappear.

3. “The rapture is before the tribulation.”

Claim: “We are taken before the trouble starts.”

Biblical correction:

• Matthew 24:29–31:“Immediately after the tribulation… they will see the Son of Man coming… He will send His angels… gather His elect.”
  • After tribulation
  • Visible coming
  • Angels gather = rapture
• 1 Thessalonians 4–5:
  • Coming of the Lord, resurrection, catching up (4:16–17)
  • Then Day of the Lord, sudden destruction (5:2–3)
  • Same event, same timing.
• 1 Corinthians 15:52:“at the last trumpet…”
  • Last trumpet = Revelation 11:15–18 (kingdom, wrath, reward).
  • That’s after tribulation, not before.

4. “The Great Tribulation is God’s wrath, so the church must be gone.”

Claim: “Tribulation = wrath, and we’re not appointed to wrath.”

Biblical correction:

• Great Tribulation = Satan’s wrath and man’s persecution:
  • Revelation 12:12:“the devil has come down… in great wrath…”
  • Revelation 12:17:“the dragon… went off to make war on those who keep the commandments of God…”
  • Matthew 24:9:“they will deliver you up to tribulation…”
• God’s wrath = Day of the Lord, not tribulation:
  • 1 Thessalonians 1:10; 5:9: delivered from wrath, not tribulation.

5. “Daniel 9:27 proves a 7‑year tribulation for Israel only.”

Claim: “70th week = future 7‑year tribulation, church removed.”

Biblical correction:

• Daniel 9 never uses the word “tribulation.”
• The NT never calls Daniel 9:27 “the tribulation.”
• Jesus’ Great Tribulation is defined in Matthew 24, not Daniel 9.
• Daniel 7 and 12 give 3½ years of intense persecution, not 7 years of “tribulation for Jews only.”
• The saints in Daniel are the same kind of people as the saints in Revelation—God’s people, not a separate category.

Structure of Matthew 24

Here’s the basic flow:

1. vv.4–8 — “Birth pains”: deception, wars, famines, earthquakes.
2. vv.9–14 — Persecution, apostasy, endurance, gospel to all nations.
3. vv.15–22 — Abomination of desolation, flight, Great Tribulation.
4. vv.23–28 — False Christs, false signs, warnings about deception.
5. vv.29–31 — Cosmic signs, after the tribulation, coming of Christ, gathering of the elect.
6. vv.32–51 — Parables and warnings about watching, suddenness, faithfulness.

• “When you see the abomination of desolation… standing in the holy place…”
• Those in Judea flee to the mountains.

Revelation 13

• Beast rises, given authority over every tribe, people, language, nation.
• Image of the beast set up; all must worship it.
• No buying or selling without the mark.

This is the same turning point:

• Daniel’s abomination ↔ Beast’s image.
• Israel’s flight ↔ intense persecution and control.
• Great Tribulation begins here—the final, concentrated period of Satan’s wrath.

Matthew 24:15–22 = Revelation 13 moment.

4. False Christs and deceptive signs (Matthew 24:23–28) ↔ Beast & False Prophet (Revelation 13)

Matthew 24:23–24

• “If anyone says, ‘Here is the Christ,’ or ‘There He is,’ do not believe it.”
• False Christs and false prophets show great signs and wonders to mislead, if possible, even the elect.

Revelation 13:13–14

• False Prophet performs great signs, even calling fire down from heaven.
• Deceives those who dwell on the earth by the signs given to him to perform.

“Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, the moon will not give its light, the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.”

Revelation 11:15–18 — Seventh (last) trumpet

• “The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ.”
• “Your wrath came, and the time for the dead to be judged, and for rewarding Your servants…”

That’s the great trumpet of Matthew 24:31 and the trumpet of God in 1 Thessalonians 4:16.

So:

• Matthew 24:30–31 = Sixth seal + seventh trumpet + gathering of the elect.
• Revelation 6–7; 11 = same event from multiple angles.

7. Watchfulness and suddenness (Matthew 24:32–51) ↔ Day of the Lord warnings (1 Thess 5; Revelation)

Jesus ends Matthew 24 with:

If you finished this message, then the question is not merely, “Which timeline is right?” The question Jesus presses on every heart is: Am I on the narrow way—and am I truly known by Him? Many will say “Lord, Lord,” and still be turned away (Matthew 7:21–23). That is why this matters.

So, I leave you with this charge: do not follow the crowd, do not trust a teaching because it is popular, and do not build your hope on what a man says on TV. Test everything by Scripture.

Watch. Pray. Endure. Keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus. And above all, cling to the gospel—Jesus Christ crucified—and walk in obedience until He comes.
