The goal is clarity: to show what must happen <strong>first<\/strong>, what God is restraining <strong>until the appointed time<\/strong>, and how Scripture identifies the end-time deceiver by his <strong>lies, signs, and wonders<\/strong>\u2014so we can hold fast to the truth and watch with discernment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Keeping the Context in 2 Thessalonians 2: From Christ\u2019s Coming (v.1\u20133) to the Man of Sin\u2019s Revealing (v.6)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">2 Thessalonians 2:1\u201312 is Paul\u2019s warning that <strong>Christ\u2019s return and our gathering to Him will not happen until one specific event occurs first<\/strong>\u2014the revealing of the \u201cman of sin,\u201d who will deceive the world with satanic power, claim divine authority, and ultimately be destroyed by Jesus at His appearing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To follow Paul\u2019s argument, you have to keep the context straight. <strong>The subject shifts.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Verses 1\u20133: The subject is Christ\u2019s coming.<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Paul says the Day of Christ has not arrived because <strong>something must happen first<\/strong>\u2014the apostasy and the revealing of the man of sin. Many readers assume the \u201crestraining\u201d later in the chapter refers to Christ being held back from returning until the Antichrist appears. That fits verses 1\u20133.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>But verse 6 changes the subject.<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The context moves from <strong>Christ\u2019s coming<\/strong>&nbsp;to <strong>the man of sin\u2019s revealing<\/strong>. Paul says:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cYou know what restrains <strong>him<\/strong>&nbsp;now, so that <strong>he<\/strong>&nbsp;might be revealed in his time.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The \u201chim\u201d in verse 6 is <strong>not Jesus<\/strong>\u2014it is <strong>the man of sin<\/strong>. So the restraining in verse 6 is not about Christ being held back from returning, but about <strong>the man of sin being held back from appearing<\/strong>&nbsp;until God\u2019s appointed time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Two different restrainings\u2014both under God\u2019s control.<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\"><strong>Christ is restrained<\/strong>\u00a0(vv.1\u20133) \u2013 He will not return until the man of sin is revealed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\"><strong>The man of sin is restrained<\/strong>\u00a0(vv.6\u20137) \u2013 He cannot appear until God removes the restraint and allows his revelation.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">God orchestrates both. But <strong>the subject changes<\/strong>, and that matters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Why the shift matters<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The revelation of the man of sin <strong>triggers<\/strong>&nbsp;Christ\u2019s return. Paul explains that the man of sin will exalt himself, claim to be God, deceive the world with satanic signs, and then:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201c\u2026whom the Lord shall consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming.\u201d (v.8)<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So, the sequence is:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\"><strong>The devil\u2019s man appears first<\/strong>\u00a0(vv.3\u20134, 6\u20137).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\"><strong>Then Christ returns to destroy him<\/strong>\u00a0(v.8).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is the point Paul is making through the whole passage: <strong>The devil comes first, not Jesus.<\/strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; Verses 1\u20133 establish that. Verses 6\u20137 explain why\u2014because God Himself is restraining the man of sin until the appointed moment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>In short<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">Verses 1\u20133: Christ\u2019s coming is delayed until the man of sin appears.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Verses 6\u20137: The man of sin\u2019s appearance is delayed until God removes the restraint.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Verse 8: Christ returns <em>because<\/em>\u00a0the man of sin has appeared and claimed divine authority.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The context doesn\u2019t contradict itself\u2014<strong>it shifts subjects<\/strong>. And once you follow that shift, Paul\u2019s logic becomes clear: <strong>God restrains both Christ\u2019s return and the man of sin\u2019s rise, but the Antichrist must appear first.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The Living Bible version makes all this clear, that the subject of this passage in context is that the devil comes first.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>2 Thessalonians 2:1-12 Living Bible<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>2&nbsp;<\/strong><strong><sup>1-2&nbsp;<\/sup><\/strong>And now, what about the coming again of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered together to meet him? Please don\u2019t be upset and excited, dear brothers, by the rumor that this day of the Lord has already begun. If you hear of people having visions and special messages from God about this, or letters that are supposed to have come from me, don\u2019t believe them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><sup>3&nbsp;<\/sup><\/strong>Don\u2019t be carried away and deceived regardless of what they say.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For that day will not come until two things happen: first, there will be a time of great rebellion against God, and then the man of rebellion will come\u2014the son of hell.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><sup>4&nbsp;<\/sup><\/strong>He will defy every god there is and tear down every other object of adoration and worship. He will go in and sit as God in the temple of God, claiming that he himself is God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><sup>5&nbsp;<\/sup><\/strong>Don\u2019t you remember that I told you this when I was with you?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><sup>6&nbsp;<\/sup><\/strong>And you know what is keeping him from being here already; for he can come only when his time is ready.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><sup>7&nbsp;<\/sup><\/strong>As for the work this man of rebellion and hell will do when he comes, it is already going on,&nbsp;but he himself will not come until the one who is holding him back steps out of the way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><sup>8&nbsp;<\/sup><\/strong>Then this wicked one will appear, whom the Lord Jesus will burn up with the breath of his mouth and destroy by his presence when he returns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><sup>9&nbsp;<\/sup><\/strong>This man of sin will come as Satan\u2019s tool, full of satanic power, and will trick everyone with strange demonstrations, and will do great miracles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><sup>10&nbsp;<\/sup><\/strong>He will completely fool those who are on their way to hell because they have said no to the Truth; they have refused to believe it and love it and let it save them,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><sup>11&nbsp;<\/sup><\/strong>so God will allow them to believe lies with all their hearts,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><sup>12&nbsp;<\/sup><\/strong>and all of them will be justly judged for believing falsehood, refusing the Truth, and enjoying their sins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The Son of Hell is the False Prophet<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Study: The \u201cMan of Sin\u201d (2 Thessalonians 2) and the False Prophet (Revelation 13)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The man of sin in 1 Thessalonians 2:1-12 is the false prophet of Revelation 13:11-18 and chapter 17.<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/17.how\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">&nbsp;<\/a>This is seen by the signs and lying wonders in 1 Thessalonians 2:9 and the great wonders and miracles of Revelation 13:13-14 connecting 1 Thessalonians 2:8-12 to Revelation 13:13-15, because signs and lying wonders is by virtue basically the same great wonders and signs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>1) Keep the Context: The Topic Is \u201cThe Coming\u201d and \u201cOur Gathering\u201d<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Paul opens by addressing <strong>\u201cthe coming again of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered together to meet him\u201d<\/strong>&nbsp;and warns believers not to be shaken by claims that <strong>\u201cthe day of the Lord has already begun.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u201cAnd now, what about the coming again of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered together to meet him? \u2026 don\u2019t believe them.\u201d<\/strong>&nbsp;(2 Thessalonians 2:1\u20132, Living Bible)<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u201cDon\u2019t be carried away and deceived regardless of what they say.\u201d<\/strong>&nbsp;(2 Thessalonians 2:3a, Living Bible)<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>2) The Order of Events: The Devil\u2019s Revelation Comes First<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Paul states plainly that <strong>Christ\u2019s day will not come<\/strong>&nbsp;until specific events happen first\u2014especially the revealing of the \u201cman of rebellion \/ man of sin.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u201cFor that day will not come until two things happen: first\u2026 a time of great rebellion\u2026 and then the man of rebellion will come\u2014the son of hell.\u201d<\/strong>&nbsp;(2 Thessalonians 2:3b, Living Bible)<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This establishes the sequence: <strong>rebellion \u2192 revelation of the man of sin \u2192 then the Lord\u2019s return and judgment.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>3) The Identity Claim: He Presents Himself as God<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Paul describes the man of sin as one who <strong>exalts himself above all worship<\/strong>&nbsp;and <strong>claims to be God<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u201cHe will defy every god there is\u2026 He will go in and sit as God in the temple of God, claiming that he himself is God.\u201d<\/strong>&nbsp;(2 Thessalonians 2:4, Living Bible)<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>4) The \u201cRestraining\u201d in Verse 6: The Focus Shifts to <\/strong><strong><em>His<\/em><\/strong><strong>&nbsp;Appointed Time<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Many readers assume the \u201cwithholding\u201d language is only about Christ being delayed. But in the passage, the restraining language is tied directly to <strong>the man of sin being unable to appear until God\u2019s appointed time<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u201cAnd you know what is keeping him from being here already; for he can come only when his time is ready.\u201d<\/strong>&nbsp;(2 Thessalonians 2:6, Living Bible)<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So, the emphasis is not merely \u201cJesus is restrained,\u201d but also: <strong>the wicked one is restrained until the moment God allows his unveiling.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>5) The Reveal Triggers the Return: Jesus Destroys Him at His Appearing<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Paul connects the unveiling of the wicked one to the return of Christ\u2014Christ comes in judgment <strong>after<\/strong>&nbsp;the wicked one is revealed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u201cThen this wicked one will appear, whom the Lord Jesus will burn up with the breath of his mouth and destroy by his presence when he returns.\u201d<\/strong>&nbsp;(2 Thessalonians 2:8, Living Bible)<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>6) The Core Markers: Lies, Signs, Wonders, and Deception (2 Thessalonians 2:9\u201312)<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Paul gives identifying traits of this figure\u2019s ministry: <strong>satanic power<\/strong>, <strong>lying class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These verses define the \u201cman of sin\u201d by what he <em>does<\/em>: <strong>deceptive miracles that lead people into believing a lie.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>7) The Direct Connection: 2 Thessalonians 2:8\u201312 and Revelation 13:13\u201315<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>A) Revelation\u2019s False Prophet Also Works \u201cGreat Wonders\u201d to Deceive<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Revelation describes the second beast (later called the false prophet) using the same identifying markers: <strong>signs\/wonders<\/strong>&nbsp;with the purpose of <strong>deception<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u201cAnd he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men,\u201d<\/strong>&nbsp;(Revelation 13:13, KJV)<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u201cAnd deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do\u2026\u201d<\/strong>&nbsp;(Revelation 13:14a, KJV)<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That matches Paul\u2019s description:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u201cFull of satanic power\u2026 strange demonstrations\u2026 great miracles\u2026 [he] completely fool[s]\u2026\u201d<\/strong>&nbsp;(2 Thessalonians 2:9\u201310, Living Bible)<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>B) Revelation\u2019s False Prophet Enforces Worship Through a \u201cLiving Image\u201d<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Revelation continues: the false prophet compels the world toward worship through a supernatural sign involving an image.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u201cSaying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast\u2026\u201d<\/strong>&nbsp;(Revelation 13:14b, KJV)<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u201cAnd he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image\u2026 should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship\u2026 should be killed.\u201d<\/strong>&nbsp;(Revelation 13:15, KJV)<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This aligns with Paul\u2019s warning that the Some interpret this to mean the Spirit only reminds us of what Jesus said in the New Testament\u2014but the Word interprets itself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jesus is the eternal Word who became a man (<strong>John 1:1\u20135<\/strong>). That means He existed before His earthly birth, and His voice is not limited to the Gospels. He also speaks in the Old Testament. One clear example is <strong>Psalm 50<\/strong>, where God the Son; God the Man &#8211; the Son of God, speaks directly with authority and judgment. Verse 16 calls Jesus, God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Psalm 50:16\u201323 (NKJV)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201c16 But to the wicked God says: \u2018What right have you to declare My statutes, Or take My covenant in your mouth\u2026\u2019 \u202623 \u2018Whoever offers praise glorifies Me; And to him who orders his conduct aright I will show the salvation of God.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So, the point is this: the Christian life can only be lived out in the Spirit&#8217;s power. The Holy Spirit interprets the Bible\u2014not by outside input shaping its meaning, but by reminding us of other Scriptures that belong with other Scriptures, until the message becomes clear as God intended. This can only be done under the anointing of the Spirit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So, if you&#8217;re trying and failing, I got something for you after the bulleted list teaching below: <strong>You need to be baptized into the Holy Spirit.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Bulleted List Style Teaching<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\"><strong>What preachers and Bible writers share is what they learned walking with God (and it isn\u2019t \u201cdoable\u201d in the flesh).<\/strong>These instructions are often hard because they were never meant to be carried out by human effort alone\u2014they require the Holy Spirit\u2019s anointing and power.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\"><strong>You need to be baptized in the Holy Spirit to learn and live what you hear from Christians. <\/strong>Without the Spirit\u2019s anointing, people try to do spiritual instruction in their own strength. But what is taught by the Spirit must be received and carried out by the Spirit.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\"><strong>The Bible is understood the way God intended only when the Holy Spirit teaches it. \u201cBut when the Father sends the Comforter\u2026 the Holy Spirit\u2014he will teach you much, as well as remind you of everything I myself have told you.\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0<em>(John 14:26, Living Bible) <\/em>The Spirit doesn\u2019t need outside voices to explain Scripture\u2014He teaches by reminding and connecting what God has already said.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\"><strong>The Holy Spirit interprets Scripture by bringing other Scriptures to remembrance. <\/strong>This is what I meant earlier when I said the Bible \u201cinterprets itself through the Holy Spirit\u201d\u2014for example, the Spirit bringing <strong>Acts 1:7<\/strong>\u00a0to clarify <strong>2 Thessalonians 2:7<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\"><strong>Scripture is not of private interpretation; it is Spirit-given and Spirit-taught. \u201cFor no prophecy recorded in Scripture was ever thought up by the prophet himself. It was the Holy Spirit within these godly men who gave them true messages from God.\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0<em>(2 Peter 1:20\u201321, Living Bible) <\/em>That\u2019s why the Lord uses His own Word to explain His Word\u2014so no one adds to it or takes from it.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\"><strong>The Father controls the appointed times\u2014so the \u201cRestrainer\u201d is best understood as God the Father, not man-made theories. \u201cThe Father sets those dates\u2026 and they are not for you to know.\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0<em>(Acts 1:7, Living Bible) <\/em>This matters because many private interpretations and false prophecies (from those without the Spirit\u2019s baptism and leading) claim the restrainer is the Church, a prophet in heaven, or other ideas\u2014but Jesus points the timing to the Father\u2019s authority.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\"><strong>John 14:26 isn\u2019t limited to \u201cNew Testament words only,\u201d because Jesus is the eternal Word behind all Scripture. \u201cIn the beginning was the Word\u2026 and the Word was God.\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0<em>(John 1:1, cf. John 1:1\u20135) <\/em>If Jesus is the eternal Word, then what He \u201chas told you \u201dIncludes the full witness of Scripture\u2014not merely red-letter sayings recorded after His incarnation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\"><strong>God speaks with authority in the Old Testament too\u2014showing the Word addressing mankind long before Bethlehem. \u201cBut to the wicked God says: \u2018What right have you to declare My statutes\u2026?\u2019\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0<em>(Psalm 50:16\u201323, NKJV) <\/em>The point is that the Holy Spirit forms understanding by joining God\u2019s Word with God\u2019s Word\u2014Scripture interpreting Scripture\u2014so the message stays God-breathed, not man-shaped.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\"><strong>Therefore: the Holy Spirit teaches the Bible without outside input shaping its meaning\u2014by reminding us of Scripture that belongs with Scripture. <\/strong>That is how God guards His message from private interpretation and keeps His people anchored in what He actually said.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\"><strong>Reading the Bible fills your memory with Scripture\u2014but the Spirit\u2019s work is more than memorization. <\/strong>Regular reading will naturally cause verses to come to mind as you read and hear words. But I\u2019m not calling that alone \u201cthe voice of the Spirit.\u201d I\u2019m talking about the Spirit\u2019s active work: He brings the right Scripture to remembrance at the right time to reveal God\u2019s meaning and make His message clear.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\"><strong>What I did with Acts 1:7 and 2 Thessalonians 2:7 was the work of the Holy Spirit\u2014not outside input. \u201cThe Father sets those dates\u2026 and they are not for you to know.\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0<em>(Acts 1:7, Living Bible) <\/em>The Holy Spirit is the One who brought Acts 1:7 to my mind to clarify 2 Thessalonians 2:7\u2014showing that the Father controls the appointed times, and therefore the Father is the Restrainer. And again, \u201cFor with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation\u201d (Romans 10:10). Therefore, you must confess with your mouth what the Scriptures say about Jesus\u2014that He is Lord over sin and death, that He died for our sins, and that God raised Him from the dead\u2014and you will be saved by that faith you have spoken.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>And the Holy Spirit also reveals where that faith comes from. If you want to believe in Jesus and be delivered from sin and death, then read what God has written about Him\u2014because faith in Jesus is created when the Word of God is heard and received. As it is written, \u201cSo then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God\u201d (Romans 10:17). Read the New Testament testimony of the Lord Jesus Christ, and when you openly confess before God and before this world that you believe what Scripture says about Him, that confession becomes your confession of faith unto salvation (Romans 10:9\u201310).<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>This is why it is called the Confession of the Word of Faith in Christ\u2014and why the Sinner\u2019s Prayer matters.
